About Me

I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor with 8 years of experience and practice. I have worked in various settings such as primary health care, employee assistance, and the voluntary sector. I am currently working with Black Minds Matter, Mind and the NHS in addition to running my own private practice.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) I work to a high professional standard which alongside my life experiences ensures that I bring a level of openness and understanding to each client. I am a Trauma-informed Integrative Counsellor allowing me to use various approaches to meet your individual needs. I offer short-term and/or long-term session sessions. I have worked for some of the UK’s leading mental health providers including Health Assured, Peppy, and Better Help.

I have significant experience in the music industry as a DJ, radio host and a consultant. As a counsellor I am able to offer a bespoke and unique therapeutic experience to creatives suffering with issues such as self-doubt, self-sabotage, creative blocks, anxiety, stress and more.

What I Do

As we begin to adjust to a new sense of normality, I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental remote environment. Sessions generally last up to 50 minutes (the counselling hour) and are currently being delivered virtually via Zoom or the Telephone. Our sessions will take place on a weekly basis; however fortnightly and monthly sessions are also available. I offer sessions on a short-term (6-12 sessions), longer-term (12 –30 sessions) or open-ended (30 sessions plus) basis. Couples sessions take place over the course of 60 or 90 minutes. We will regularly review our work together to ensure you meet your counselling goals.

Complementary Counselling Assessment

The complementary counselling assessment will allow you to experience how I work, gain information, and judge whether I can be helpful to you. It will also give me the opportunity to get to know you, your circumstances, and the outcomes you are looking for from me. I will ensure that the session takes no more than 15 minutes.

For couples counselling each partner will need to complete their assessment separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy is a form of healing. Counselling specifically is a form of ‘talking therapy’ which allows people to talk about their difficulties and issues in a safe and confidential environment. Counselling allows people to explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth without a fear of judgement.
Heartical is a Jamaican adjective meaning ‘from the heart’. It can also mean wholehearted, heartfelt and someone with integrity. The word is mainly used in the Rastafarian culture. The nickname Heartical was given to me by an uncle during my first voyage to Jamaica in 2011 and the nickname has stuck with me ever since.
Anybody from any background can benefit from seeing a counsellor. If you feel life is getting on top of you, you are struggling with mental health issues or feeling burdened, then you could benefit from counselling.
You can expect a safe and non-judgmental counselling environment which will allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings from a different perspective. You can also expect to improve your self-esteem and confidence. I can offer you coping strategies to help with any difficulty that you are experiencing.
I became a counsellor because with my experience Black Men are generally underrepresented in the field, furthermore young relatable counsellors were rare when I first sought counselling in my teenage years.

In short psychologists generally treat and diagnose severe mental health disorders.
